I have my PC hardwired to my router and I have a usb to ethernet adapter. I run that ethernet cord to my xbox and I shared my PC connection with the xbox. Sometimes my NAT will change to moderate on te xbox.

How can I open ports on the xbox IP address? I dont think I can do it in my router settings?

The xbox should be connected to the router as well. Opening a port on the Xbox would require running an application or having terminal access on the Xbox itself. Are you trying to open the Xbox port to the public?

a small network switch is the right answer here. skips figuring out windows settings and doesn't rely on your PC being on.

something like this one should do just fine for ya. :)
