LLMs cannot write interesting stories practically by definition. Too much of what makes a story good stems from subjective experience.

You’ll notice the only storytelling excerpts touted by AI proponents are short and generic, lacking in characterization and dialogue.

Even a broken clock can be right twice a day if it's analog and not a 24 hour clock or some other configuration. So, the actual proportion of broken clocks being right is very low, but it can still happen, and this is proof that it's the same for humans

Sure, even a stopped clock is correct twice a day. Yet you'd never know when without an additional, functional clock.
