No, gyms are capitalism honeypots for fitbros

I work out at home with body weight and everyday heavy objects.

Also yoga.

[-] vikingtons@lemmy.world 30 points 2 months ago

a decently kitted home gym is surprisingly attainable if you can spare the space!

[-] ProdigalFrog@slrpnk.net 5 points 2 months ago

And there's resistance bands, which if combined with a door anchor can replace weights for a fraction of the space and cost. A doorframe pull up bar would be the last piece of kit a home gym would really need when combined with the bands and calisthenics.

[-] vikingtons@lemmy.world 3 points 2 months ago

I use resistance bands as well. I'm not sure they'd be a replacement for my rack and all that but it's a great place to start

Bruh it's $12 a month for planet fitness and it's all aunties and uncs up in there.

1.5 miles in 15 minutes on the treadmill then the yellow room 30 minute circuit trainer with the lights.. 15 minutes stretching in the isometrics room and we on our way.

Everyday, or at least five days in a week. Treat things like yoga biking and sports as "in addition to"

[-] joelfromaus@aussie.zone 4 points 2 months ago

It was $15 per week at my local gym. Tbf a new gym has opened nearby since my last membership so it may be cheaper. But at $360 per year over a few years you can just start buying your own stuff.

This is the better version. Don't need to go to a gym to exercise.

[-] A404@lemmy.dbzer0.com 5 points 2 months ago

Thanks, I will add it to my meme folder

[-] putainsdetoiles@lemmy.world 33 points 2 months ago

I never skip leg day. My leg extension PR is 365 lbs. I want my quads to be so strong that fascists’ balls vaporize when I kick them.

[-] ramenshaman@lemmy.world 3 points 2 months ago

You should try kickboxing if you haven't already

does 16k steps and at home pilates count?

[-] paranoia@feddit.dk 19 points 2 months ago

pilates is no fucking joke, yes it counts

[-] tdawg@lemmy.world 16 points 2 months ago

Everything you do to better yourself counts as bettering yourself

[-] LibertyLizard@slrpnk.net 5 points 2 months ago

Damn that's a lot of steps. I usually feel good if I hit 10k. Good job.

[-] Bytemeister@lemmy.world 22 points 2 months ago

Skip the gym. Work on your garden. Doesn't matter how swole you are when the famine starts.

[-] Magnum@infosec.pub 12 points 2 months ago

Said the guy that got murdered over his garden during a famine by the most swolen beast of the neighborhood.

[-] Agent641@lemmy.world 8 points 2 months ago

That's what the garden ornaments are for!

[-] A404@lemmy.dbzer0.com 8 points 2 months ago

That's what neighborhood militias are for.

[-] Bytemeister@lemmy.world 5 points 2 months ago

God didn't make all men equal. Smith and Wesson did.

[-] LibertyLizard@slrpnk.net 16 points 2 months ago* (last edited 2 months ago)

Yeah because we all know capitalists rule the world because they are the best at punching.

That said you should still go to the gym (or otherwise exercise) because it is good for you and you are important :)

[-] curbstickle@anarchist.nexus 13 points 2 months ago* (last edited 2 months ago)

Nope.

I exercised outside in the heat like an idiot. Not for exercising outside, but doing it in the heat while my AC wasn't working.

Its working now at least, which is why I'm outside to get sweaty again after my warmup.

[-] menas@lemmy.wtf 9 points 2 months ago

This is an individualist approach, a productivist one and a validist one. I see you point : people shall prepare But the next question is : to do what ?

If you want to prepare to run: run if you want to prepare to climb : climb if you want to prepare to fight : fight

This not an RPG, muscles could act counter-productively (it's weight more, and need more calories).

But most importantly, prepare to do it collectively. Some of us have the health and condition to prepare to do some of this, and may need to be recall that they have a responsibility to do so, because some of us don't. Futhermore in most situations it's better to be 3 people not well prepared than one fit. So take care of you community and make it grow

[-] electricyarn@lemmy.world 5 points 2 months ago

this reads like it was copy pasted from a translation app. What is a validist, productivist, individualist approach? its such a bizarre critique of a meme.

Like others already said, a gymnasium is for privileged assholes. A fascist gets paid to exercise.

What this Post should be instead is a guide on how to exercise at home, with your bloc.

Also, find ways to empower comrades to get fit, rest, and act.

This is your second strike with me A404.
You didn't answer my question last time.

Apology accepted.
Let's get fit, I’ll spot for you.

now imagine Proudhon in gym just because a fascist went to gym today

your conception of a body shouldn't be a reaction to another perceived (or imagined) body. If you're going to discipline your body, (if your body is going to discipline you) that should come from love and not because you hate fascism

i know that "discipline" is not a friendly word for most, but that's what it takes to stay fit for years and decades to come.

[-] grue@lemmy.world 8 points 2 months ago

Ideally, sure, but being motivated by spite is better than not being motivated at all.

[-] Hadriscus@jlai.lu 5 points 2 months ago

I fuckin did, an hour of swimming and my pecs are ready to swing a golf club at a nazi's teeth

[-] thenextguy@lemmy.world 4 points 2 months ago

I got fascia but I’m not a fascist.

I'm losing weight so it's less stress on my taxed joints to exercise well. Using an under the desk elliptical for some light exercise. I will then go to the range to train more.

[-] IAMgROOT@lemmy.wtf 4 points 2 months ago

A fascist practiced a skill today, did you?

[-] BurnedDonutHole@ani.social 3 points 2 months ago

I fucked my Achilles tendon. Staying home and feeling miserable.

[-] FedX@quokk.au 3 points 2 months ago

Sorry to hear that. I'm in a similar boat (and have been there many times before, and will be there many times after). Heal up and feel better!

[-] BurnedDonutHole@ani.social 2 points 2 months ago

Thanks. Wish you a speedy recovery as well. Stay healthy.

No. I injured myself doing BMX(ish) style street riding. Nothing too bad, but I will be off the bike and doing leg-only exercises for a week or two. I was also in a no riding zone, during graduation on a fairly capitalistic college campus, but hey, biking's not a crime (and even if it was, legality != morality)!

Flippant Anarchism. A lighter take on social criticism with the aim of agitation.

Post humorous takes on capitalism and the states which prop it up. Memes, shitposting, screenshots of humorous good takes, discussions making fun of some reactionary online, it all works.

This community is anarchist-flavored. Reactionary takes won't be tolerated.

Don't take yourselves too seriously. Serious posts go to !anarchism@lemmy.dbzer0.com

  4. Absolutely no redfash jokes. This includes anything that props up the capitalist ruling classes pretending to be communists.

  5. No bigotry whatsoever. See instance rules.

  6. This is an anarchist comm. You don't have to be an anarchist to post, but you should at least understand what anarchism actually is. We're not here to educate you.

  7. No shaming people for being anti-electoralism. This should be obvious from the above point but apparently we need to make it obvious to the turbolibs who can't control themselves. You have the rest of lemmy to moralize.
