Recently got my new M2 air. On Sunday i used it and closed it without shutting it down, then i forgot about it for 4 days until today (Thursday). I opened it and expected the apple logo, but it went straight to the Lock Screen indicating it’d been on all that time. It was on 43%. I shut it down today, but will this mean my MacBooks battery will be impacted/ does it cause any damage to the device. Really worried as it was expensive and i want to keep it in perfect shape.

Erm, no one shuts down their computer every day. I haven't shut it down / restarted in a month...

I may have turned my m1 air off 3 times since launch, and it still runs like a champ.

I’ve had MacBooks for nearly 10 years and have never shut it down after use. I always just close it like this. Never had any issues

It is permanently damaged and must be disposed of immediately at a local recycling facility, sorry. /s

Don’t worry about the battery. Charge it when it needs charged.

When you're closing lid your Mac is going into standby mode. It's perfectly fine, you don't need to turn it off completely with every time. MacOS is doing also some maintenance while sleeping.

why post this multiple times

No. This is perfectly fine. It is designed in a way that allows it to be used this way. Any possible effect this has on the battery (in the long term*) is not measurable by current technology.
