I'd say guilty but I do it without shame.

For real. No pansy ass clothes or dishes in my house. Not machine washable? We'll see. You're about to find out your limits.

Glad I'm not the only one who does not GAF. I do always have a thing about drying on low heat but that's just me.

[-] rozwud@beehaw.org 7 points 4 days ago

Yeah, if it doesn't survive the laundry gauntlet, I wasn't meant to own it.

[-] fatalicus@lemmy.world 13 points 5 days ago

Hand wash only you say?

No problem, I'll turn the program wheel on my laundry machine past the hand wash program on the way to the same eco program I use for everything else.

[-] TedZanzibar@feddit.uk 2 points 4 days ago

Absolutely this, except for me it's the mixed load program.

Always cold water for everything. Separate colors from any whites you want to stay white. Check known stains as you take them out, and rewash any that remain before you dry those items. Anything new gets one wash by itself unless you love the color so much you want your entire wardrobe to be that shade.

Never done any of that, can’t say I’ve ever had any issues.

[-] Malyca@lemmy.zip 7 points 5 days ago

Same but my whites look like Soviet concrete

[-] Mouselemming@sh.itjust.works 4 points 4 days ago

So, you never wash in cold?

Hot water (and warm bc it contains hot) carries more contaminants and wastes energy and sets protein stains

But hey, do as you will, it's your wash.

Washing cold tends to leave traces of the detergents in the fabrics though, so beware of that if anyone has a tendency to get skin reactions

[-] Mouselemming@sh.itjust.works 3 points 4 days ago

Most people use too much detergent

[-] RebekahWSD@lemmy.world 10 points 5 days ago

The same with the dishwasher with a few exceptions. Welcome home new storage containers, good luck.

[-] Mouselemming@sh.itjust.works 6 points 5 days ago

Yep, maybe top rack if I'm feeling kind. But might as well discover any problems right away.

I put things to laundry by their vibes (e.g. - stronger or more delicate materials get appropriate wash modes) and only pay attention on labels to whether stuff could be ironed - learned hard way with one of my favourite jackets. 😢

Reminds me a lot of the energy from https://lemmy.world/post/44725430

This is nearly identical to a very old Dilbert comic.

Generally speaking you are right but Kashmir wool will shrink if you put it in the washer so don't risk it.
