She was in favor of immigrant rights before it was cool, that's the opposite of what she's accused of. The entire post is a wild restatement of her pro-immigrant, anti-law stance.
There may be an additional wrinkle: A republican in the UK is not an American Republican. That is, she is probably advancing an anti-monarchist stance instead of a pro-GOP one. In the UK, a republican is a staunchly anti-establishment, fringe left figure.
She endorsed Trump in 2024 and also tweeted

M.I.A.s political views are slightly unhinged: On one hand, she is supporting free immigration, female empowerment, outspoken against genocide, supported wikileaks and the English Labor Party but then is anti vacc and is endorsing Trump...I cannot make any sense of that.
I really liked her early music from 2005.
The wikileaks to right winger pipeline is a very clear line that goes through Russian psyops.

he did know, and made it part of the agreement bringing her on the tour that she can’t say shit like this.
I don't want to let her off the hook for her repugnant views, but I do think we have a real issue with globally rising mental illness, and it seems like there is pipeline for people with certain types of mental illness finding Trump very appealing.
He really should have known better if he knew her views from the start.

Everyone is so focused on her comments, but what about her music? How's her new album?
Well, I have a "policy" with albums that I have to listen to it all the way through. But I broke that rule with two albums this year and quit this one by track 6. MI7 was one of them. It suuuucccckkks.
Not really any reason to give her music a chance if we know she is a Trump fascist. Plenty of music out there not made by fascists.
