Those fucking invasive ads. I can no longer pause my TV to read, or visually analyze something, because an ad pops up after a second or so after hitting pause. This seems more like torture than "Here is my product. Will you please buy it?". We need to do something about ads. They have become like a cancer, rather than good information. Most people cannot "make it rain" into the economy anymore because they're all broke and being careful right now, so most ads aren't helping them, just interrupting the flow.

I hear you on this one. Like if it engaged after being paused for a minute or something fine but I think many people are like you or me wanting to pause to look at something in the background or with closed captioning trying to catch a hard to make out convo. One thing that cracks me up is im getting older and hit with wealth management ads. Its like. See there is a requirement for wealth management that I lack.

Maybe we need an extension that connects the ads to the amount in your bank account and only serves you things you might afford. If you have no money, you don't get ads.

BRB, setting up a new bank account...

If you have no money you will get advertisements for financing the purchase of what you can't afford. This already happens without an extension.

Oh no! How will we ever recover from...oh ublock origin just updated.

Nevermind! Back to work everyone!

Switch to AdNauseam, a fork of uBO that actively attacks advertisers by messing up their click data (auto-clicks while blocking the loading of any further content)! Don't just sit there with uBO doing nothing; fight back.

Oops no unlock in apps. PiHole doesn't work on YouTube or some regional TV apps.

Meh, I have my Steam Deck docked to my TV and just launch LibreWolf and watch YouTube through that. Ad free, no subs.

Can't wait for the Steam controller tomorrow!

Sadly, I can't afford to spend ≥420€ for a dedicated streaming device, so looks like us poors are stuck either with a terrible experience of plugging in a laptop and usingouse and keyboard or tracking and from a Chromecast/smart TV/etc...

Oh sweet you have a laptop? Well there's this thing called "Steam Big Picture Mode" that'll give you a nice frontend to put GUI applications on!

Look there's no good solution here, but there are tons of options, but some do have more cons than pros. For me I am trying my best to de-Google my life and some of their services are hard to beat or have huge obstacles in the name of privacy and convenience.

For me I refuse to use YouTube in any way that shows ads. And I refuse to give them any money. So my best options are to watch it on my phone or laptop and use a web browser with ublock or just download the video from YouTube and put it on my Plex server.

For someone like my FIL...he happily pays for YouTube so he doesn't have to watch ads on his Smart TV. I can't justify that cost but others can.

I hope you can find a solution that works for you.
