There is a video on youtube showing iranians in Iran mourning 9/11 victims

[-] GeeDubHayduke@lemmy.dbzer0.com 1 points 48 minutes ago

Yeah, I'll never forget (lol) the images of people in the streets of Tehran waving the stars and stripes on 9/12/01. Boy, did dubya screw the pooch on that. "What? They're sympathetic? Eew! BOMB THEM! AND THEIR NEIGHBORS! AND THE NEXT NEIGHBORHOOD OVER!"

We had the whole world ready to step up and aid us, and we sprayed ~~democracy~~ liquid shit all over the place.

Its almost like we all actually care about one another and the elite upper class feed us an endless stream of hate mongering to divide us so we dont tear them apart.

[-] lobut@lemmy.ca 28 points 1 day ago

Yup and that's after years of the US doing terrible shit to them.

It's honestly kind of good advice for conflict resolution

[-] aramis87@fedia.io 34 points 1 day ago

Gotta say, Iran's social media game is sharp.

[-] MalReynolds@piefed.social 5 points 1 day ago

You're right, it stands on it's own, but anything looks good in comparison to the US, that low bar is underground and heading to Hell at a goodly clip.

As usual it's not the citizens that are the problem, is the shitheads in charge...

Please do hate the US "government". A bunch of parasites and pedophiles. A kakistocracy.

Well, it's currently 41% of US citizens that are the active problem and 59% of them being impotent pussies about it.

The ones I've seen so far have been mostly anti-Trump which is something anyone could get behind.

As an AMERICAN I can NEVER feel the Same because how DARE the Iranians ~~BLOW up an American School!~~ ~~Close a MAJOR US shipping Lane for NO REASON!~~ ~~BOMB our Leaders!~~ ~~BOMB our Cities!~~ do something FOX NEWS said was BAD!

Since the archive link still has the newsletter overlay, can someone post a link to the video?

[-] humblearrogant@lemmy.world 10 points 1 day ago* (last edited 1 day ago)

While this video is very touching and speaks many truths, does anyone feel the omission of terror that the Iranian regime has put on its people? The Iranians I have spoken to in the US have said they are happy about the killing of Iranian leaders, though this was in the beginning of the war and they may feel different now. Don't get me wrong tho, I can't wait to piss on Trump's and bibi's grave

Domestic issues will always take back seat when your country's survival is at stake. Rally around the flag always happens when defending against aggressor. Many Iranians might despise the oppression carried out by IRGC, but they recognize that if IRGC falls, so does Iran as a sovereign state.

[-] humblearrogant@lemmy.world 2 points 12 hours ago

I completely agree. I found it asinine when they were telling Iranians to rise up against their government right after bombing the school.

[-] ryannathans@aussie.zone 6 points 1 day ago

When did those Iranians leave Iran?

[-] belastend@lemmy.dbzer0.com 3 points 1 day ago

I had the same experience with Iranians who left months or years ago.

[-] humblearrogant@lemmy.world 2 points 1 day ago

I'm not sure, they were people I met in passing, cashiers. They were older men.

[-] null@lemmy.org 3 points 1 day ago

It's propaganda. They can be pretty much entirely on-point with their criticisms of the US, but they aren't gonna highlight any of their own faults.

Iran has really been giving Americans too much credit. Either way, hits hard. The main thing i have cared about since seeing live footage of Iraq being bombed at age 12 the night the war was declared. My thoughts were wirh the iraqui children the same age as me or younger who were being subject to this living hell, i didnt have the politcal wherewithal to know exactly why this was wrong but i knew that death doesnt justify death, and the nigjt vision cnn footage I was seeing seemed like four 9/11s a second and I still cant wrap my head around it. America is an abominable apparatus that must be stopped

Iran has really been giving Americans too much credit.

It’s kind of aggravating. Only goes to show the enormous soft power the empire wields.

[-] GalaxyBrain@hexbear.net 5 points 1 day ago

Or just how much more chill the rest of the world is in their regard to others

You should though...
