Take a quick look at what those baltic states were doing during WW2 and you might have your answer

They were annexed and occupied by USSR and their goverents, armed forces and all other administrative organs dissolved.

And thank god the USSR did that.

Lithuanian Collaboration during the Second World War

The Holocaust in Lithuania

If only the USSR could have finished the job.

So, the USSR was justified in its actions due to... future events that had yet come to pass?

Do you think the holocaust started in 1940? Lol. Its almost like Stalin had already foreseen a war with Germany that would result in these areas becoming vital strategic locations that also required liberation from Nazi policy.

Pretty smart guy, that Stalin cat.

So, again, USSR was justified in using a threat of military invasion as leverage for subversion of unaligned countries, occuping and annexing them for strategic reasons by dissolving them as political powers for potential future reasons?

How is this different to just regular plain old imperialism?

"unaligned" is a pretty generous way to describe literal Nazis collaborators, guy

And yes. They were clearly justified. Our hindsight 20/20 only affirms those decisions made by the USSR

What collaboration was happening during 1940? And how were they justified through actions of people almost entirely unassociated with any of the political organs?

Its almost like the same people who did all the pogroms in 1941 were also in Lithuanian gvmt in 1940.

It isnt hard to just *not* make apologies for literal Nazis, you know
