I think the global south would do well ignoring their diaspora
in some cases I think investing in diaspora and immigrants (especially in first world countries) is an important resource, especially if they're neutral, can do stuff like events, celebrations, summer camps and basically everything else the zionist entity does to the jewish diaspora. That way if the U.S. or Europe ever starts bombing your country you'll have a good anti-war crowd.
In the case of a reactionary diaspora (Iran, Cuba) yeah just ignore them lmao.
:cri:
(You're not really wrong, though)
Apparently a few leftist creators (including bad hasbra) made content with an "ex" 8200 unit member. cool
Listening back and I'm losing it over how the bright section at around 3:10 hits.
Noice

Already started on another song
Wasn't going to because I already wrote like 2 albums worth of material and said "that's good enough for now" but I got the impulse to start writin a lil more... especially since a job may very well be near... and I write music best when I'm in a good mood
TIL I’m “Gen-Z coded”. I find that a lot of the millennial stereotypes are usually about white libs because Gen Z still talks like black millennials.
All generation stereotypes are exclusive to white people.
Happy Victory day!
happy late victory day (I should've been saying this also here)

🥳
Got another interview today!
Last one I gotta go to this week...
Tomorrow is 🎂🎂 let's go
Wish me luck
Anyone know the difference between African internationalism and Pan Africanism?
I've been down with Pan Africanism but saw a website saying they're African internationalist only and don't prescribe to Pan Africanism. The tenants were so close together, I don't get the difference or beef.
Interesting blog on the differences between them: https://medium.com/pan-african-voice/pan-africanism-vs-african-internationalism-3dc6fc8e919a
The article they linked is the one I wanted to read but the link's dead. Thanks for this though, it explains the misconceptions and historical background I was looking for
I genuinely don't know. I wonder if this is to make a distinction between the more reactionary kind of "pan-Africanists" (your Dr. Umars, race essentialists, hoteps, and whatnot) and those who actually support revolutionary pan-Africanism.
In that case, the latter is obviously still very much pan-Africanism. Walter Rodney, Kwame Ture, Frantz Fanon, Malcolm X, Thomas Sankara, Patrice Lumumba, and many others... all pan-Africanists and genuinely committed to revolution and decolonization, not just trying to repurpose the master's tools.
Some people get in this headspace where they feel like a term has been co-opted so much that they'd rather just abandon the term altogether, and I kind of get it, even though I still consider myself a pan-Africanist.
Considering how much Leftist has been co-opted, I can see how people become more territorial over terms.
It kind of reminds me of how I stay far away from the label of "feminist" because it's basically become synonymous with self-centered, individualistic liberal white women with a bioessentialist mentality, the kinds of people who will literally never give a fuck about any issue that doesn't personally impact them.
Yeah I get offended if someone calls me a feminist. Don't reduce me to that term just call me marxist
Uhuru yall. Resident African Internationalist here. EDIT: fixed quoting
I wouldn't use that medium piece it seems to be referencing both an video with a dead link (hey it happens, that's why we archive stuff) and an article it doesn't link, on top of using an article that counters the claim of Chairman Omali Yeshitela being historically inaccurate.
First Things, first not sure why the Author didn't link to the article in on the Burning Spear's website itself, but here it is:
From the Medium piece
Yeshitela’s position is that “Pan-Africanism was born as an attack on Marcus Garvey’s movement.” This is historically inaccurate. In fact, the abovementioned article itself noted that Henry Sylvester Williams had organized a Pan-African Conference in 1900. How then could Pan-Africanism be born as an attack on Garvey’s movement if Pan-Africanism predated Garvey’s movement? Garvey himself was influenced by the early Pan-African movement.>
What the Article ACTUALLY says
Before the rise of Marcus Garvey and his UNIA, the term Pan-Africanism was loosely used; it has no recognized organization or philosophy. It was applied to people like Henry Sylvester Williams, a Trinidad-born lawyer, who organized the first Pan-African Conference, for a reform of colonialism. There were Africans in the Caribbean, Brazil and the U.S. who returned home under different schemes.>
So the Medium Author either hasn't read the piece, is opportunistically hawking his book, and/or is just being dishonest about what The Chairman said.
Further in this section:
It was Garvey who was the first to create an organization that unites African people all over the world.
“Marcus Garvey created the first modern international African liberation movement with one philosophy, one central leadership and one organization without borders across the African world—the Universal Negro Improvement Association (UNIA).
“It was based amongst the poor African workers and poor peasants across the world, conscious of its own existence as an organization for the national liberation of black people.
“Garvey’s movement was part of the worldwide national liberation of oppressed nations of his time. That is why Garvey sent solidarity messages to the Russian Revolution in 1917 and to the Irish Liberation Movement.” (The Burning Spear; Dec 2009.)>
Because the author attempts to make claims uniting Garvey with Pan-Africanism I'm going to quote a passage from the article, pardon the length:
Pan-Africanism was born as an attack on Garvey’s effort to unify Africa and African people
W.E Dubois emerged as the leader of black forces opposed to the success of Marcus Garvey and his UNIA. Chairman Omali Yeshitela summed up that, “Pan-Africanism was born as an attack on Marcus Garvey’s movement.”
On the contrary, DuBois, who had no base among the African working class and poor peasants in the U.S. or across the world, who had no economic program for African people anywhere, was tied to the liberal bourgeoisie who funded his organization, the National Association for the Advancement of Colored People (NAACP), a U.S.-only based organization.
DuBois called on the good will of imperialism to grant us some rights. DuBois, despite his intellectual brilliance in producing several books, promoted a philosophy of compromise with imperialism.
He promoted “Talented Tenthism,” which speaks only to the material interests of a tiny minority of the African petty bourgeoisie.”
In a letter to Charles Hughes, the U.S. secretary of state, DuBois wrote that “the Pan Africanist Congress is for conference, acquaintanceship and general mobilization.
“It has nothing to do with the so-called Garvey Movement and contemplates neither force nor revolution in its program.”
He continued, “We have the cordial cooperation of the French, Belgian and Portuguese governments and we hope to get the attention and sympathy of all colonial powers.”
DuBois wrote a similar letter to the British ambassador in Washington. “The purpose of these letters was to obtain governmental support for the 1921 Pan African Congress in London.” (Race First, pg. 290 Tony Martin)
Dubois’ and Padmore’s 5th Pan Africanist principles for reforming colonialism shows severe and tragic limitations>
The APSP has consistently sought to explain the differences between African Internationalism and Pan-Africanism, not just in the video linked but also in the criticism issued by the APSP to the A-APRP "Smash Slander and Build Principled Unity" To which the A-APRP has never responded.
Also the Author never actually explained what African Internationalism is (or Pan-Africanism for that matter) I have to run to an event but when I get back I'll explain what the Theory and Practice of African Internationalism is all about.

here is the article that wasn't linked.~~~~~~
HAH FOUND THE UNDELETE BUTTON
Its funny to me that one of the defenses of Ziorhan supporters for his both sides bs on Palestine was that "he's just the mayor of NY, he's not going to have any impact on international issues" and yet here he is letting synagogues in NY sell stolen Palestinian land. And he points out that this is illegal, while doing absolutely nothing to stop it.
Oh wait, no, he did do something. He signed off on a law to put more cops in protesters' way to create a buffer zone to protect "religious freedom". And "leftists" still tripped overthemselves to celebrate that he vetoed a similar bill for educational facilities.
And all this just for the Zionists to still be mad at him and accuse him of not doing enough to support the Zionist project. Fuck Ziorhan, fuck the cops, and fuck the Zionists.
Before: Zohran is going to arrest Netanyahu
Now: Why do you care about the mayor of NYC?
Classic DNC playbook. Anybody who still supports Ziohran Copdani at this point isn’t a leftist, at best they’re a temporarily embarrassed democrat.
But hey, at least the bus he’s throwing Palestinian’s under is free to ride!
Right? Like how many of these do we have to keep handing out?

And fuck DSA but being the cheerleaders of shit politicians. Any critique on ziohran and there they are ready to defend. Embarrassment to the left
Smokin' that Ted Turner pack
Man it’s so sad seeing what’s happening in the philippines, power to the NPA, power to the people, may we all achieve liberation soon
I wish I wasn't disabled so I could get on a flight right now and do whatever they need volunteers for :(
Seeing all the US did and still does to the Philippines to this day breaks my heart.
Jenna Ortega’s chopped racist ass boyfriend further proves the point that poc in the West have no standards when it comes to dating ugly ass whites but any poc they date has to look like a model and with equal financial success to match.
Any liberal white woman saying "The world would be so much better if we lived under a matriarchy!" definitely has a bioessentialist mindset.
Fuck you and your taxpayer money, I hope they spend it on drugs mansions and cars in countries across the planet, I hope they shove those "American tax dollars" up your throat until you choke on it. Fool seeing bombs being dropped on kids and thinking "my taxes".
Say it loud!
(Took this concept from a tweet) Black excellence is neoliberal BS to get us to ignore capitalist imperialism in favor of liberal democracy. I reject Black excellence, my ancestors had Black power and Black pride, and that's what I'll have.
It reminds me of people who think that Black solidarity stops at supporting Black businesses and glazing Black billionaires.
I talked to a native person and asked what they prefer instead of "Native American." They said they like being called "native," "first nation," and "indigenous." And in Austrailia, you can also call natives "aboriginal."
Makes sense.
Barbecue soya chunks with homemade mac

mmm i’ve been adventuring more with my soya shape choices but i haven’t tried this shape yet, i just wish i could find them for a closer price per gram to tvp. i love soy curls but those are definitely the most expensive, who knows though maybe one day ill drop $80 on the big bulk box
I’m a little surprised by how popular Kpop is with non-Asian poc. I remember liking Jpop in the 2000’s and everyone I knew thinking it was lame.
Decided to just block and stop talking to that aforementioned white leftist, by the way.
I'm in a capacity where I have very little room for bullshit, and that includes myopic, self-centered people who don't have an iota of empathy.
The experience is hellish enough without someone trying to tell me that my inability to escape it is my own fault.
Apparently Billie Elish got hate for saying eating meat is wrong ajd NATO leftists got mad saying it insulted indigenous people and is ableist lmao
I live in a town full of indigenous people, some live traditionally and some don’t. They have vegans too. One of them is an 80 year old woman who goes to a local restaurant for all her meals because of their vegan options. They act like indigenous people spend all their time dancing naked with bears instead of just being people who live like everyone else.
Starting to understand why many posters here mostly stick to this community only
I appreciate this space and you all
had a white leftist I know blame me for the fact that I haven't been able to land a job
yeah.
that didn't sit right with me at all
kind of your fault for not being born as the child of a business owner
Applied to a lot of jobs this weekend... already got calls for 3 interviews, 2 of which are virtual. All of these interviews are for positions that claim they are hiring urgently/immediately/quickly or whatever, so let's hope that leads to something good.
Another day, another interview.
Gotta leave for the bus in 2 hours.
Wish me luck.
Once again, it's for a place that "hires everybody," but I've come to not take that too seriously.
Ethnic Minorities and People of Color
Official Title of this Community: Ethnic Minorities and People of Color
Why is the title different?
We like to have fun here.
What is this place? A safe space for underrepresented peoples and peoples of color to talk, chill, and vibe.
What are the basic rules of the community?
-
Follow Lemmy TOS and Community Guidelines. Non negotiable. This is the bedrock and mods will make decisions with this always in mind.
-
This community is for ethnic minorities and people of color. This is a safe space where such people can freely discuss their struggles, insight, and thoughts without fear. If you are not, we respectfully ask you do not post or comment here. A future community will be established to allow for racial discussions with a mixed userbase. However, remember, comments here must still respect Lemmy TOS and Community Guidelines.
-
Irony Racism is still racism. Racism is bad m'kay? We will treat irony racism and bad faith racist satire as racism. Will wield the ban hammer accordingly.
-
No sectarianism: This is an identity channel not a channel for you all to complain about why XYZ isn't the "one true leftism". Take that to another place.
-
Stupidpol is not allowed. Stupidpol is class reductionist. We are an identity community. Thinking like stupidpol ignores the struggles of the oppressed, their voices, and their need for unique support. Nothing says oppression more than someone saying that the identity you have is "not real" and that if you only thought like them you'd see what your "real" identity is. Mods reserve the right to ban users and content who promote stupidpol, stupidpol memes, and other class reductionist thinking.
