FYI for anyone in his district: Jeffries has a Democratic primary challenger this June — Vance Bostic, a working-class guy who as far as I can tell hasn't had a lot of press, but if you live in Brooklyn and are a registered Democrat it's probably worth checking him out.

Just count Jeffries and congressional Democrats out of everything. They’re determined to do nothing substantive with whatever power we give them, again. They’re a corporate donor maintenance organization, not a political party, not leaders, and certainly not advocates for any civic ideology other than whatever positions reinforce their ability to perform the above maintenance project.

Now then. let's not be so excessive.

Do you have an idea of the amount of gunpowder needed to make them reach the sun? And for what? With such explosion they'll disintegrate before reaching their goal.

Just give each of them a small dynamite charge and blow them up to pieces. The result will be the same, but way cheaper!

Horrific flashbacks to the time a city decided to blow up a beached whale... The consequences were quite memorable.

I'd hate to be anywhere near where Trump's orange mist would travel. That has to smell awful.

They're just determined to not win the majority, aren't they.

Jeffries has zero say what happens in the next congress. Just like Schumer

They've been lame ducks all but two weeks of this session, and they're not above saying dumb shit like this to try and get progressives to tune out of the primaries.

They're doing triage for the neoliberal faction

If you don't like them, vote in your Dem primary for the most progressive options.

Looks like there are republican Democrats that need to be replaced as much as Republicans are.

Does something special happen if we impeach him a third time?

Yeah. It shows that the current opposition party will always be against a national threat to democracy and pedophilic rapist.

It puts all of the blame solely on the party destroying everything and shows the democratic constituency that their votes matter.

I think I am growing to hate the worthless, centrists in this country even more everyday. How does one compromise with a rapist? With a pedophile? How do you compromise with a seditious traitor who sells our secrets to the highest bidder openly?

The fact we aren't in a war already shows that the country has already fallen and the Democrats aren't any way back to normalcy. They COMPROMISE with domestic terrorists that have killed science and education, farmers, cancer patients, children, etc.

    WORTHLESS

I was leaning toward, 'without winning the Senate its a waste of time when there are so many other pressing concerns.'

But no, you're right, they have to walk and chew pedo-gum at the same time. They have to take action against the ongoing national threat, and they have to move the country on from these people's dystopic vision of the US. Its a necessary part of the program.

It'd also have the tactical benefit of distracting from the WH regime's program, and allow political space for wavering Republicans to push back against certain excesses lessening the damage the WH is able to carry out from that point.

Am impeachment is just a trial. Unless the dens can get enough seats in the Senate that are willing to convict and remove trump an impeachment where Trump refuses all congressional subpoenas for him and the rest of the Epstein administration is meaningless.

The last 2 times just shows it's a waste of time until they have the votes in the Senate to convict and remove him from office.

It’s clearly on his mind, he’s been mentioning it out of nowhere lately. He doesn’t want to be impeached for a third time. Now you’re right it won’t actually do anything to the administration, but this is one of those times when the principle matters. It’s worth doing it because he deserves it and it would infuriate him.

Voters say that re-electing Jeffries is not a top priority for them.

  • source
  • [–] 11 points 4 months ago* (1 child)

When asked if impeachment was a top priority, Jeffries said “of course not” during an appearance on “Fox News Sunday.”

He was on fox news when he said this; most likely, given the dems have already tried to impeach trump twice, he was trying to give the fascists a way to rationalize accepting dems winning the house. Besides this is a completely reasonable thing - unless dems win the senate too it shouldn't be the priority to do something completely pointless.

You have got to be fucking kidding me. That is quite literally the easiest and most free political slam dunk possible. These people have brain damage.

Funny he thinks it's going to be up to him. He's just going to be another Congressional Rep, and someone else will be making the decisions. He's already had his shot, and he allowed MAGA to rise again and take back over. He's already proved he's too weak and cowardly to get the job done, it's time for someone else.

In fact, both Jeffries and Schmuck need to be investigated just like every MAGA. I'm not convinced that they aren't Manchurian MAGAs. They got a lotta splainin to do.

It’s meaningless anyhow if they don’t follow up with removing him from office. They’d be better off with their standard form strongly worded letter.

  • source
  • [–] 3 points 4 months ago

they’ll get to it eventually; after they try to get 60 vote threshold votes and potentially succeed - low expectations here though

It's all theater. The democrats are there to make normal people think there is someone "good" in the government. The only ones who actually change society meaningfully are the conservatives. This is because FDR passed the new deal to prevent a second civil war, and the owners of the US hated that so much that they've been walking back that shit for 100 years. Essentially, back in the "gilded age" working people were essentially slaves to the companies they worked for, paid in scrip only valid at company stores, forced to live in company housing. The working people started pushing back, with violence. The US government unsurprisingly put down these 'protests' working on behalf of the business interests. Before it could come to a head, FDR did the new deal, and wwii buttoned it all up. They've been trying to make everybody slaves again ever since, and they're pretty close now.

I mean, like, if they impeach him successfully, they’d just get Vance as president, that would be arguably worse. Like, trump is an incompetent idiot, and he’s filled his administration with incompetent sycophants. Vance probably would clean house of the most incompetent people and pursue much of the same agenda, so, same ghoulish techno facism, but implemented faster and with less opportunities to block it in the courts due to sloppy implementation.

Never interrupt the enemy when they’re making a mistake and all that.
