These are old versions of smartphones people were using before inventing modern ones in 2000s. These have approximately the same processing powers and memory as this DIY watch. Can also run a few of handy apps as games. You can still find these in some shops.

Are these like the ones with the T9 dialpad?

Yeah. No touch screen. A set of buttons as a very small PC keyboard(usually only late models of button phones started to have touchscreens).
