Hi everyone,

I am currently planning to run an ethernet cable to the upstairs of the house, however, the walls have corrugated ducts to run the cables through, I would like your opinion on whether it is necessary to run a shielded cable through this duct or it can be unshielded.

NOTE: These ducts do not carry electrical wires.

Plenum rated Ethernet unless that duct is really an electrical conduit and not and airflow duct.

Can you clarify the term "corrugated ducts"?

Do you mean flexible "corrugated" conduit, also referred to as ENT or "Smurf tubing" ?

Or do you mean actual Air conditioning / HVAC ductwork?

Thanks for your reply, this ducts are flexible corrugated ducts and they are for passing cables through walls, these are not for air conditioning but I am not clear if they are located or pass near the ducts of electricity cables.

Unshielded is fine for this use. Incidental passing electrical lines is not a problem.

"planning to run an ethernet cable" ==> "planning to run several ethernet cables"

The labor is the real cost here. Never pull one if you can pull more than one at the same time.
