My Macbook Air M1 is used for a year and a couple of month, and batter is already 78% while showing service needed.

Is this normal 185 cycles only and battery already needs to be replaced?

185 cycles in over a year? That ain’t a lot, have you been limiting the charge?

No. This is not normal. See if apple will still cover it. They guarantee 1000 cycles @ 80% life. Not sure on their exact terms though so i dont know if its covered since you are out of the manufacturers warranty.

Use your mac as much as possible plugged with the app Aldente and make sure that the battery isn’t charging
