A passport. Spent years putting it off due to the “expense” but it has been the item most worth the money that I own.

I bought a nice greeting card for myself for only $1

Good quality lavender scented biodegradable dog poo bags, they are about 3p per bag when buying ~6 months worth, but you can buy nappy bags for about 0.3p per bag. That extra 2.7p per poo is well worth it. 2 poos a day is about £10 per year to not risk getting poo on your hands, having lavender scented pockets, and less plastic usage.

I don't believe they're biodegradable. They're made mostly from post-consumer plastic.

Oh yeah - I think we switched from a very similar one which was biodegradable, i thought the whole “earth rated “ fooled me into thinking these were too! I think the old ones were called something like “beco”

Do you have a link for those?

[-] manualoverride@lemmy.world 4 points 3 days ago* (last edited 3 days ago)

These are the ones we are using ATM: https://amzn.to/3Qul0BK

Sorry it’s an Amazon link, I’m trying not to use them, so I tend to get them when doing a dog treats order, or from a local pet shop.

Just got some Nichicon fine gold capacitors for the signal path of my 1985 Yamaha amplifier. Sounds cleaner than ever and all the caps I ordered cost me less than £2.

[-] doodoo_wizard@lemmy.ml 2 points 2 days ago

If you like fg, try Panasonic fm next time you can’t get some value in nichicon.

[-] crunchpaste@lemmy.dbzer0.com 1 points 2 days ago

I looked into them, but unfortunately they are very hard to find in the EU.

If you’re repairing something it’s always worth it to spend more on good components. Saving 10 cents a product isn’t worth it when you do <100 a year.

[-] crunchpaste@lemmy.dbzer0.com 1 points 2 days ago

What do you mean? Nichicon's fg series are one one the best reviewed audio grade capacitors, not to mention that Yamaha used their products in the original build. It just so happens that at these specs even the most expensive capacitors cost next to nothing, that's why I mentioned it as a cheap luxury.

I thought the question was complete. Anyway, asking about any cheapest items you've bought

There's a $12 bottle of Monastrell that my roommate and I adore. It's rich and complex with wonderful plum and fruit notes, it's not too expensive, it's vegan, and it always seems to be flying off the shelves.

Whenever I see it, I try to buy a case of it and we save the bottles, never opening more than one a night, debating if we should open another cheap red or "one of the good ones".

It's not much, but it is a luxury I love to enjoy and share with friends.

French toast sticks. On mornings where I want extra, air fried French toast sticks and hash browns are great.

( 400f, 12 minutes for hash browns, 6 min for sticks)

Costco has this Italian water - carbonated if I recall - 8 bottles in a pack if I recall.

It's always been on the pricey side... I think it was $12 or so when we first started buying it occasionally, likely 7-8 years ago. Then it went up to $16 seemingly overnight - now I think it's close to $20.

It is a luxury, no question. It's not that we can't afford it, just that it is a LOT of money for water, lol. We get it less than once a year now, but it is always a very nice treat when we do.

How does it taste compared to regular seltzer?

[-] hyacin@lemmy.ml 2 points 16 hours ago

You know, it's been so long I barely remember... and we don't drink a lot of carbonated water outside of it, though we did once upon a time. I'm trying to even come up with a guess, and I honestly can't. I guess I'll have to get it on my next Costco trip and report back!
