Hi OP, im doing okay, thanks for asking. How are you doing?
i'm doing pretty alright! met my partner yesterday and their family, it went better than i could have imagined ><
I wish it was easier to get news about Iran rn. Although maybe i should stop for a little bit given that this seems like it's going to be a longer conflict
What do you feel you get out of interacting with the news? For me it's been a little window of hope that I can't stop peering into
I'm more just anxious/nervous. As much as the Empire is repeatedly stepping on rakes...idk. I haven't been an optimist since the Nepal coup really
Edit: scratch that, more like since the SMO in Ukraine started.
It's uh, certainly going. Jokes aside, pretty okay. Got raised to $4.5/hr from $4.25 at my job so maybe I can stop working 7 days a week, or at least only work night instead of night and evening hours sometimes. Being a tutor is nice but paying off debts plus renting plus being able to afford food in an economy strained by the proxy war, on top of the price hikes from attack on Iran is difficult. Hopefully I can stabilise.
We definitely need some sort of economy where people can get by without money.
Maybe start as an incentive to volunteer at stores or farms for a discount.
I’ve been hypothesizing about how we can integrate some sort of moneyless economy into our current one to reduce the costs of living.
But even if I got to the point of a testable model, the petite bourge seems dead set on making life harder for everyone else, as seen from the failure of Canada’s subsidized daycare program
I recently bought a pair of wooden swords so now I have an excuse to hit my friend with a fancy stick.
I remember getting one of those at a fair (I think?) as a kid. I don't know if I still have it though, it's been so long. Might have gotten rid of it when moving at some point.
I'm doing overall okay, ups and downs. Want to kick candy/chocolate for good - for me, it's like alcohol is for some people in that I can't just have a little bit now and then as a treat, it ends up as unhealthy amounts if I have it at all, which is not sustainable if I want to live long and thrive.
The happier part is I got a piano keyboard and have been tinkering with that. Mostly I try to figure stuff out by ear from memory of how it sounds because I can't read sheet music, and I'm sorta challenging myself to see how far I can get with that, if I can get faster at it. Or if I just end up memorizing some sequences that's cool too. Also been getting back into going to the library to get books and getting back into doing some coding. So doing better on the hobbies front.
https://jojoschocolate.com/products/pistachio-almond-cranberry-bites-4-ct I got a single package of those at Costco and they're pretty great! Serving size is three pieces, I've never eaten more than two, but one is the norm, and not daily. I'm obsessed with fruit, currently.
Weather is starting to become warm and that's making me happier. I also started developing a blog and am excited to start publishing some stuff. Individually I feel good, but feeling a lot of dread for the outside world.
trapped in the wasteland between based and cringe
Arthur Schopenhauer would agree:
Life swings like a pendulum backward and forward between pain and boredom. The life of every individual, viewed as a whole and in general, and when only its most significant features are emphasized, is really a tragedy; but gone through in detail it has the character of a comedy. If we were not all so interested in ourselves, life would be so uninteresting that none of us would be able to endure it. Life is full of troubles and vexations, that one must either rise above it by means of corrected thoughts, or leave it.
