It is estimated that Reddit’s moderators contribute $3.4 million worth of unpaid labour per year to maintain its communities. That amounts to about 3% of the company’s revenue. Reddit’s in-house moderation team is not likely in a position to plug that gap – and we’ve already seen, via Twitter, how faltering moderation can affect advertising revenue. The longer this protest goes on, the more damage it does to Reddit’s potential share price
