Glad they helped! I guess he felt safer struggling with the jar up where no dogs could attack him.
Having broken a few jars myself, I think if he'd fallen and broken the jar, there's a good chance he'd have been left wearing the opening threads part like a jagged-edged collar, cool but unsafe.
