Hello everyone! Is there any alternative to android auto for a degoogled phone running microG? I mean, one that can connect on " android auto ready” devices.

I don't think you're going to get a perfectly working setup but it's been done to some degree in the past: https://community.e.foundation/t/how-to-run-android-auto-without-google-apps/64578

I just connect to the stereo via BT and use the phone for maps and other visual aspects.

I tried the first method on a degoogled phone a few months ago. Doesn't work 😕

Been meaning to try the second method.

I use the second method on a phone using /e/OS, it works perfectly. I do not need any google app (maps, store, text to speech) to make it works.

Right on, that's good to know. And you're running totally degoogled?

Saving it to try later. Thanks!

Working on GrapheneOS, but not a feature worth buying a new device for IMO.

I wish there was a way to hide play services apps from each other. I want to listen to audiobooks in Kobo while driving (i already own some) but the app doesnt support playback while Android Auto is running

No MicroG but GrapheneOS supports Android Auto.

This is my method. Yeah, it sucks I'm still running Google Play Services. But at least its sandboxed on GrapheneOS, restricted to a separate profile, and I only run that profile while driving. I have a mapping and music app in that profile and that's all I need for a full AA experience.

Is graphene degoogled out of the box?

LineageOS is... I supposed graphene came with some Google stuff

It's 100% degoogled out of the box, which pretty much no other OS is.

Thanks everyone for the input. I have a motorola G84, so one can always dream in have graphene on it, due to the motorola grapheneOS deal.
