It would sure be a shame if hurricane season was extra selective this year.

Didn’t Zuckerberg just buy a place in FL? Bet this is part of a larger pattern.

Excellent. Someone call Bugs Bunny.

[-] Fedizen@lemmy.world 9 points 5 hours ago

Lol I hope they eat a hurricane.

[-] CADmonkey@lemmy.world 2 points 4 hours ago

But that's unpossible, climate change isn't real according to the guys who made the decision to move to Miami.

Stuffing 'clean coal' in my ears so nobody poisons my pure, smooth, mercury-addled brain with facts about climate change.

Just makes it easier to identify companies to avoid voluntarily patronizing.

Yup. I look at food packages all the time and if it says "FL" I don't buy it.

I wonder if that’s also due to the new fiber line connected to Florida for better latency to other international regional data centers

[-] EpicFailGuy@lemmy.world 3 points 4 hours ago

Don't think so,

The Miami NAP has always been a hub of undersea fiber to europe and the americas, nothing new there.

We didn't have a single hurricane land last year, so fascists decided we'll never have another hurricane in Florida again and are building all their infrastructure there.

They got four months to build it before Mother Nature reminds them it thinks on longer timelines than season to season.

[-] Sharpiemarker@startrek.website 9 points 9 hours ago

Come on mother nature! Do your worst!

In all seriousness it's gonna be bad.

FEMA ain't gonna be able to handle anything that actually happens, but at least this hurricane season will be right before midterms.

It won't get republicans to vote D, but it'll depress their turnout if he leaves them "out to dry" right before midterms. But what would be worse for Republican turnout than him not helping, is actually trying to help (at least red states he likes) and failing miserably.

It's not that I'm cheering for future suffering. I'm realistic it's gonna happen, and I'm hoping the silver lining is republican voters realize Republican politicians don't give a fuck about them.

Agreed.

Its because it's rated 5th in the country for corporate tax rates at only 5.5%. I say let them go. They will ruin the state even more since that kind of tax rate won't help the state much, and we already know they will make further deals to move there bringing it even lower for years to come. We also know they will pay less because of loopholes as well. Great job Florida, you got the businesses but with little money to come with them so whats the point? We already know if you change that they will probably leave again so long term won't work either.

[-] orclev@lemmy.world 5 points 8 hours ago

That's because the money goes direct to the politicians as bribes so the ones making the decision are getting paid. As for taxes, those mostly just help people including poor people and Republicans can't be having any of that nonsense going on. The only thing they believe in is suffering for the masses (and of course more money for themselves). If they helped people they might have a chance at making their lives better and they need them to stay poor and broken so they have an endless pool of cheap desperate labor to abuse.
