Do note that it won't work well with flatpak Firefox: https://mastransky.wordpress.com/2020/09/25/firefox-gnome-shell-search-provider/
Gnome

hopefully there will fix this :) Because i think fore security reason its important to have the Browser as Flatpak ^^
I remember it works with flatpak. Fedora distribute their firefox as flatpak, and search provider works out of the box.
I also made it work before with the flathub version. You just need to add the boolean variable and set it to true. And enable the bus org.mozilla.Firefox.SearchProvider
for firefox in flatseal.
But remember this provider only work when firefox is open.
ehh, flatpak is not a security sandbox tho.
There is a nice extension for online searches: https://www.omglinux.com/search-web-gnome-shell-extension/ which opens then the results in the default browser.
It is about Firefox being search provider for Gnome Shell which should be already the case for Fedora Workstation installs.
thx this is more easy to setup :D
