How can anyone look at these pictures and be against these changes?

I grew up skateboarding and taking the trams to get around my city. Many of my friends did not, and were driven everywhere. For them, once they were able to get a car and their license, being an adult and synonymous with driving yourself places - because that's what they always experienced.
There are so many benefits to public transit and green spaces, but most people have never experienced them and can't fathom why anyone would want to let go of their individual mobility and sense of adulthood. Which sucks.
This is to positive. Vienna is very slowly moving in the right direction when you look at the inner city. But, the local politicians still have a car fetish and are, at the very moment, trying to build an unnecessary highway through a national park.
Not disagreeing with anything you wrote, but TBF that highway is planned as a tunnel below the national park. Still, more space for cars will cause an increase in traffic. Only way I could support this if they instead demolished part of the A23, maybe build a railway or tram track in its place, hey can't a man dream… 😁😎
Vienna seems based
thank you, Vienna for making way for people on foot, on lightweight wheels, etc moving without noxious monstrosities spewing noise & threats of destruction at every turn…& creating quiet urban spaces for people to enjoy time with their friends & neighbors…nice!
Oh, Vienna… how I love thee.
