Sorry, late again. I cannot be trusted to do things to a schedule. But it's here! Eventually! Right now even!

Something good happen this week? Made some progress in your org? Hear some uplifting news? See a cool bug? Share it here!

I don't have any good news that isn't too personal, so instead have this little dance

I've managed to cut back on drinking quite a bit. I did cheat and have some brewski beers last night tho.

Bloom list? Bloom list:

  • Got a seasonal job lined up and I’ll be leaving Ohio. It’s in the summer so I still need to find a gig for the spring

  • Actually noticed some muscle mass while I’m doing my cut. I’m hardly a male model but if you squint I look like I’ve seen the inside of a gym now. I hope to lose 4 inches off my waist by june.

  • While this is hardly a big reversal, and as horrifying as it is, the whole Epstein having a hand in 4chan feels like a blow to the dominant right-wing culture which otherwise feels undefeatable in culture wars.

Can you share any cutting advice?

Oh, yeah here are a couple things off the top of my head:

  1. The core of it is simple: Calories in vs calories out. There are plenty of TDEE calculators. Personally, I underestimate my TDEE but not by much
  2. Track EVERYTHING. It's something that has helped me a little bit with curing myself of manchildishness but take on a principle: record your progress or your hard work won't count.
  3. Protein is also really important, it helps keep you full and helps protect the muscle you have built. If you're new to lifting or kinda skinnyfat, you might even eek out some muscle gains
  4. Find some favorite healthy foods. I for one am a massive weeb so I've learned some good miso and tofu recipes, the latter of which are awesome in sushi bowls.
  5. If you're using an app and you bought a can of Uncle Gohan's assblasting chili from the store and it's not on the app, just look for the closest thing there is. If you can't be fully accurate, be precise. If you're consistently wrong, how the number on the scale goes up or down is still good feedback
  6. Weekends are a great time to learn to cook and prepare something in advance. Even if your employment situation isn't great, investing some time in cooking something healthy and that you love is great. Seriously, make food fun. I for one love finding new ways to eliminate food waste.
  7. YMMV, but minimize snacking and eat good meals. If you find yourself hungry some tea or decaf coffee is a great way to "snack" without snacking.
  8. If you drink, while sparkling water may be a 'you either love it or you hate it' thing, I find sparkling lime water is a great way to scratch any itch for a beer and not consume alcohol (which actually does have calories).

Feel free to message me if you want some more, glad to help.

shiit thanks for all the info

what app do you personally use to track all the calories?

"Uncle Gohan's assblasting chili" agony

I've found that white Monsters or a lot of energy drinks in general don't have calories, are those a good option? (as long as they don't have any weird chemicals obv)

ty again for all the info

I just use MyFitnessPal, it’s great for food but for whatever ungodly reason I like jotting down my exercises in a physical notebook.

As for White Monsters, I can’t really say as I’ve never really liked energy drinks, but some great low calorie drinks are water, tea, coffee, sparkling flavored water. If I’m really hungry for whatever reason a protein shake is perfect: just some almond milk and your favorite protein powder and you’ll be good.

I've been feeding the two strays outside my house, it's a mom cat and a baby cat. I'm hoping the cat distribution system picks me and I can adopt one of these cuties since I'm lonely since my Wolfie passed.

I finished making some subtitles for a miniseries. Now, all I gotta do is revise it.

[-] durruticore@hexbear.net 5 points 1 week ago

I've always been curious, how do you make subtitles for videos?

And is there a chance you might get paid for, for example, translating subtitles? or doing language stuff with subtitles in general

[-] deathtoreddit@lemmygrad.ml 3 points 1 week ago* (last edited 1 week ago)

Well all I did was download subtitle edit (nikse de) and fiddle with it. I don't know if I can get paid for making subtitles, this is just a passion project, cuz I'm planning to show it on cytube.

You can also subshifter, in case sub timing is off.
