There's been a huge and consistent gathering of Iranian protestors outside the US Consulate in Vancouver.

I walked past it a number of times... but there seems to be multiple groups of protestors who all agree for a change in government and mercy for protestors, but disagree on what should replace the Islamist regime...

Some days it was pro-Shah, with a couple Israeli flags and chants of "Make Iran Great Again! Alternative for Iran!" mixed in. Other times it was for a democratic government, Palestinian flags, and various chants to prevent harm. But they were both there to ask for help from Trump's State Department, as far as I could tell.

How do they square that? At least the pro-Shah, pro-Israel rallies are ideologically consistent, but how do you deal with the cognitive dissonance of waving a Palestinian flag and asking the genocidal Nazi pedophile evil empire to invade Iran to "restore democracy"?

Idk the real reason, but I think honestly people there are rightly worried about their families, which can cloud judgment about what you want and who you ask for it. The US has the power to do a lot of bad but it could also use it for good (though we know what the Trump admin's general inclination is).

Both groups, some days later, were upset that he didn't follow through with his promise becuase he got distracted by his imperial ambitions for Greenland, and his hissy-fit from being outshined by Mark Carney at Davos.

Gotta be careful with these types of protests. Last time I came across an Iranian one they were in support of the government.
