Flatout2 - LAN (lemmy.world)
submitted 4 days ago by oyzmo@lemmy.world to c/linux_gaming@lemmy.ml

Anyone know how to get Flatout 2 Lan gaming to work? It used to work earlier (1;5years ago), but now I don't find any of my Windows-friends when searching for LAN games.

(Disabled firewall, tried different wine versions. Tried Steam version, tried Gog version. Game works fine, but can't find anyone else on LAN and nobody finds my if I try to host).

Sorry this comment won't be helpful, but I used to install Flatout 2 into a WineSkin for MacOS and distribute it to all my students and we'd play it all the time. Such a blast.

Flatout2 is the best cargame ever. Wreckfest could be great too, but the devs absolutely wont't add a nitro option. That nitro is what makes Flatout great; no matter how far behind you lag, there is always a chance.

Btw. Anyone know if there exists a nitro mod for Wreckfest?

Oh also, one time I was in a 4 player demolition derby and we all chose the flatmobile. It was a map where it went to a ramp in the middle and everyone started out pointing right at it. We all just raced to the middle and simultaneously crashed and also crashed the game. I think that was the only time I witnessed the game crashing.

Sorry, just so many good memories of this game!
