Bytedance was forced to sell it to Oracle because of Trump's trade war with China. It was either that or close TikTok in the US entirely.
As far as I can tell they are now a completely independent TikTok, with their own content creators and community. I.e. you get a different experience if you open US tiktok than if you open rest of the world tiktok.
So there are three versions then: Chinese version (Douyin), US version and Intl. version?
From what I understand, yep, exactly. However the international version is still owned by Bytedance, who owns the chinese version as well.
How do I get the international version?

There's no point, we get new comments all the time on this video. They also drive engagement and help it make a bit more views.
