Bluesky has verified the account of ICE, which was a step too far for many in the fediverse, wanting to disconnect from the bridge between the networks

The presence itself of ICE on Bluesky is a form of harm, and Bluesky is not well equipped to deal with this new challenge. Making things worse, their verification system is set up to delegate responsibility, but instead they made no use of it

It is somewhat unclear how the presence of a fascist police force that is actively working to instigate civil war aligns with the principles of safety and respect that Bluesky supposedly champions.

This demonstrates why monolithic platforms, and Bluesky in particular, are not the answer to X. Yet people keep running from one silo to the next, like sheep following the herd. Once the herd has finally decided that it's time to be a 'rebel' and leave whatever 'big bad' platform they're on. Yeah, yeah, I know, Bluesky is 'decentralised' and 'federated'. Except that it isn't really, now is it? Let's see what new silo they can run to in, say 15 years or so, when they finally realise that Bluesky is indeed the new Twitter/X, just not in the way they thought it was…
