Mercedes pauses Level 3 driving assistance – for now

Since Level 2 systems do not require expensive laser-based lidar sensors, unlike Level 3, the service can be offered at a considerably lower price.
That was always the tricky part: Level 3 feels nearly the same as top level 2 but is considerably more expensive. The difference between level 2 and 3 for the driver is essentially a legal one, not technical.
