It's nice to have something to look forward to. I always have some goals I'm working towards. Don't other people? Are your dreams burdens to you?

It's more of associating your basic pleasure emotions like happiness that's the problem "I'll be happy when X" rather than something more healthy like "I want to do X because I want to better myself/It will solve Y problem/it's a personal achievement of mine"

I think this will resonate with you if you haven’t seen it.

The key is to enjoy your time at the lower goals. Life is what happens between the big life-changing moments, make sure you savor every minute as much as you can.

Needs a change.

Instead of buying a bigger house... It should be barely afford a 1 bedroom unit.

I fucking hate this. I almost got to the endpoint, and if it fucking happened then, fair enough, but I didn't. Then shit collapsed under me and I'm still trying to put my shit back together.

More reason to take advantage of the present. Don't delay vacation with your family for when work slows down or you have a better job.

My parents worked hard every year and never took much vacation because they wanted to save it for their retirement when they could travel with us kids. Problem is now they are retired and we all have our own families and lives and don't have time to travel with them, so they are out by themselves most of the time.

Imagine how many great trips we could have had together over the years when we were young and free to spend time together. Now those days are gone and all my parents have to show for it is the money they made working.

"Der Weg ist das Ziel" – a German idiom that holds true annoyingly often
