I haven't quite finished the event yet, but I've enjoyed what I've played so far, story-wise. I love that it did actually customize our party while we were on the walk. Made it feel surprisingly immersive.

Any part that stood out to you, like or dislike?

Forced party setups are almost always a nice thing, and they did it in a somewhat less punishing way; by using the character in your roster if your character is at max level (that seems to be the condition I think, instead of some complex rule to calculate strength). Great for immersion, and can sometimes increase the difficulty of a fight due to a lack of synchronization, but that's just part of the immersion IMO.

I've quite enjoyed the story myself. It's a simple story, but also ties up some loose stories and gives them an ending, especially if you've paid attention to character stories and NPC interactions, loose ends that have basically been around since the launch of the game.

Some people will probably find the whole poem thing meh and maybe confusing. It's actually a nod to a few traditional Chinese cultures all related to poems, which mean it’s a chance for those who don’t know to have a peek at the culture, or it’s pure nostalgia for those who grew up experiencing it.

I found the story and event theme uninteresting, and the games middling, overall I found it disappointing for a flagship event. Fontaine feels like a step back in terms of event quality to me so far.

I did like the change in party that you mentioned, it gave me a chance to play around with Xiao for a bit which was nice. And it was generally enjoyable to have a reason to go take a walk in Liyue.

I'd rather trade event quality for main story and exploration, and so far it seems worth it.

Yeah, I agree that both of those have gotten a lot better this region. But the exploration content quantity has also seemingly shrunk down unless I‘ve become a lot faster at exploring.

It really might just feel that way because unlike Sumeru Fontaine has not locked majority of the exploration behind a quest like the Aranara or Jeht one. As much as I like Sumeru, having those big exploration parts locked behind huges quests wasn't something I liked much, especially with the Aranara one which I found incredibly hard to follow due to so many similar names on top of the fantasy words.

The overall story was cute, and I got a hearty laugh from the first quest cutscenes with delightful Paimon bullying.

I didn't really expect anything special from Mihoyo translating what I assume is actual attempts into poetry from Chinese and/or into English, so I wasn't disappointed by any means. But the riddles were interesting, at least.

The story is ok. What sucks is that it restarted part of my cutscene stuff at one point which was very annoying

I'm having more fun exploring with Wriothesley honestly but I want to get the free primos

Events are always just mid. I really don’t care about events, and basically only do them for the primos.

Sometimes they’re fun, but mostly they’re some weird minigames unrelated to Genshin.

Very boring jokes, very boring tasks.. oh yee, I love dumb and primitive poetry, thats why I came in action game, to click 9999 times to skip all boring text..sigh.

The first cutscene has way too much paimon, thought it was very annoying. Zhongli showing up was kinda random. The poetry hurt my brain. I really liked the part where we took over the characters away from the traveler doing their own thing. The ending was cute. Does that make the old guy some kind of furry?

Doesn't take much to have too much Paimon tbh.

I was wondering, just days before the event, what would the old man's story be, or if he even had one; looks like they heard me. Who knows if it was planned years in advance, or developed on the spot as needed?
