I made the mistake of listening to NPR this morning. Apparently "From the river to the sea, Palestine shall be free" is hate speech.

Aime cesaire was correct about liberals: there is no difference between a liberal in the colonies and a Nazi in Europe.

There's this misinfo going around that because Hamas uses it like every single other Palestinian liberation group, that it's a "Hamas term."

Even though it was in use decades before Hamas even existed. But what the fuck is objective reality to liberals?

Went to a march for Palestine yesterday. I'm in a pretty progressive city, but it was still surprising just how many people showed up and how many bystanders showed their support. There are thousands of people marching every day for Palestine all over the country and the media is just ignoring it.

[–] [email protected] 24 points 1 year ago

There must've been millions out on the street throughout the world this weekend alone. Support is overwhelming. If only it could bring us further that we are today.

[–] [email protected] 14 points 1 year ago

We marched on Saturday and I had never seen so many riot 🐷, when the march reached the highway ramp they pulled out AR-15s, harass and beat up front marchers. So instead everyone turned down to Lakeshore. Unmarked 🐖 van with mounted cam was monitoring everyone. Though still, thousand of people came out to show solidarity. Possibly the largest Palestinian rally since 2021 that was 10,000 turnouts.

I got called a softie by a woman for drinking tea today. Tea. And this isn't the first time for drinking tea either lol.

People and their views on masculinity keep on being insane.

[–] [email protected] 12 points 1 year ago (4 children)

Tea is wonderful, what kind were you drinking? Oolong is probably my favourite, I got some fancy tea oolong from Taiwan and it's the next tea I've ever had. It's called 金萱 (Jin Xuan), also called milk oolong at least by my mainland friend.

One of our senior party figures will soon release a book called Mutiny about the Global South getting freed from the Western hegemony and how that's a GOOD thing. We had a discussion about it today at my local action group and one of my comrades got sort of mad about it, asking how we could support orgs like BRICS when India for example is a right wing capitalist state. Luckily other comrades and myself were able to tell her how critical support works but I don't think she fully agrees.

The book will be translated in 10 different languages so I will see if I can share it here as well.

When you're so guilty about the genocide you committed 80 years ago, you blindly support another one

[–] [email protected] 24 points 1 year ago (1 children)

It's not guilt, and it's not blind. It's a clear eyed, earnest desire to carry forward the national history of ethnic cleansing and settler colonialism.

it's been wild watching my local news station invent reality the last few years. First with running non-stop pro-Ukraine coverage and now doing the same with pro-Israel coverage, with absolutely zero pushback against any of the claims no matter how ridiculous they are. I watched coverage of the recent released hostages and they kept talking about how horrible the hostages were treated despite all the video and statements from the hostages saying they were treated well. Also they now just refer to any and all Palestinian resistance fighters as "terrorists." At this point it feels like I'm living in a parody.

[–] [email protected] 15 points 1 year ago (1 children)

You know what's really fucked up? The Pro-Israel coverage has been so omnipresent and over the top that I've started to think the pro-Ukraine stuff couldn't have been as bad.

Local news is owned by conglomerates and is told what to say from the top down. when it comes to stuff like this.

700 Palestinian Martyrs last night alone.

I will never forgive Herr Bibi. He is a hyper racist fascist, in the cloth of Hitler himself.

I will never forgive Isn't Real. How they use the Holocaust to try to deflect any accountability is so fucking twisted disgusting. Like the Holocaust card needs to be categorically revoked from Zionists when they are doing all the Nazi shit.

I am currently engaging in a "debate" with a genuine psychopath on Twitter. So we're talking about the idea of a draft, he says his own brother said he wouldn't do it, so he would drag him to the authorities and force him to go. So we get to talking, me trolling mostly, he says his raised the guy and is a vet and if a draft comes, we should all "do our part". At this point, I started pressing him more, then he says he loves the US more than his brother. THEN he says he never admitted to loving the kid at all.

So these are the kinds of people that want boots on the ground over in isr@el, unfeeling sociopaths with a single minded loyalty to the state and nothing else.

Al Jazeera highlights of 23Oct23

https://www.aljazeera.com/news/liveblog/2023/10/23/israel-hamas-war-live-hundreds-killed-israeli-strikes-gaza

Frantic rescue operation under way as latest Israeli strikes kill several people, including women and children, in northern Gaza’s al-Shati refugee camp as well as southern Khan Younis; at least 436 Palestinians reported killed in the last 24 hours.

Two elderly women released by Hamas on Monday have been reunited with their families and are resting in hospital, Israeli media reports. There are concerns for captives still held by Hamas as Israel says its planned ground offensive “will come soon”. More than 10,000 Palestinians are being held as prisoners by Israel, Palestinian officials say.

The Pentagon has sent military advisers, including a general versed in urban warfare, to Israel to aid in its planning for the war in Gaza, a US official tells the Associated Press news agency.

Iranian Foreign Minister Hossein Amir-Abdollahian says Palestinian groups in Gaza are acting without any direction from Tehran after the US accuses Iran of ‘facilitating’ attacks.

At least 5,087 Palestinians have been killed in Israeli attacks on Gaza, while more than 1,400 people have been killed in Israel since October 7.

My guess is that someone mentioned it at some point, but I really haven't seen anyone talking aobut how that bullshit about palestinians beheading babies invented by israelis is just the blood libel but against palestinians.

[–] [email protected] 8 points 1 year ago* (last edited 1 year ago) (4 children)

So watching videos of Israeli politicians and even some Israeli private citizens always gives me a weird vibe. These people are American -- their mannerisms are American, their way of dress is American, even their opinions are American. Netanyahu himself looks like somebody you might encounter on a street in Chicago, or at a dinner event somewhere in the Midwest, and he speaks English with an American accent. Obviously this is all anecdotal, but even the most America-obssessed Europeans I've met don't come across as anywhere near this level of red-white-and-blue.

(I'm told that Zionists have noticed this, and that idiot American evangelicals -- faux Christians -- refer to it as manifesting a "blood line," which is quite an interesting choice of words).

[–] [email protected] 7 points 1 year ago

on a street in Chicago,

More like a dark ally. Full of dead bodies.

Fun fact Netanyahu is from Philadelphia
