As I mentioned in My other post, my laptop broke and I am searching for a new one. The people in my comments said that the thinkpads aren't really good for gaming, so I'm looking at the lenovo legions but I am curious if there is other laptops that are good.

Framework 16?

Have you checked out system76? Between them and Dell it's easier to find builds that work great on Linux out of the box.

I looked and they look like they may work for me.

Oh cool, I'm looking at getting a legion too. Thinking of moving soon and it will come in handy. If you get one, please share your thoughts about it.

And yeah if you get a non-gaming laptop just look out for whether or not the build is limiting the amount of power the GPU can use and if it has a mux switch. I'm not sure on all the details of those things but with gaming laptops you don't have to worry about that stuff, whereas on studio /creator laptops you do before purchasing if your intent is to play games.

I have a legion that I used for some development. It's not terrible. Keyboard is worse than thonkpad but not that much worse. I use an external keyboard anyway. I set it up to use only the discrete GPU as I don't really take it out and about and setting up the automatic switching is a little painful. Doesn't bend where it shouldn't for the most part, thermals are OK.

The new framework has an amd gpu in them which would be nice for linux
