Testing a lot of different things because of this. The TLDR is our host is shutting down at the end of the year.
Oh dang it. That means we’ll be down here for some time.
Not necessarily but nothing has been decided yet. There's a lot to consider and multiple services that have to be figured out. Right now I'm focusing on testing as much as I can to decide if I want to manage everything myself for the long haul.
Damn best of luck while you work through everything! Really enjoy a lot of the communities you have.

One way or another the communities will survive. There are lots of potential scenarios to experiment with before the end of the year. There's a chance we'll actually gain an instance depending on what direction things go if I end up running a Lemmy and a Piefed instance, but I haven't made that decision yet. It largely comes down to how much time and money I want to put in to keep things going but there are users and communities to consider too.
The easy options are the most expensive and also the ones likely to land us in this situation again. It's a lot to think about while trying to live life too lol.
