I remember the data was not updated for some time... did he ever resume updating it after that? maybe the maintenance burden was weighing heavily on him?

No, jonpro didn't update after May 19, 2023 or so. I don't think he was happy dealing with a certain sub's mods when his last post was deleted/redacted.

Then why redirect his site to that sub?

[–] [email protected] 3 points 1 year ago

Yeah, uh... what the heck.

Because DRSYourGME got deleted by reddit admins? The choices are pretty limited. Maybe r/GME or r/GMEJungle, but SS is pretty much the goto subreddit still.

Wanna hear something exciting? DRSyourGME has a Lemmy instance now! :)

Hah! Yeah, might be biased here - but that's definitely another good option for a redirect.

You can still see the site if you disable javascript. It's all there but there's that redirect on the first line of a script "dashboard.js". Looks like a quick edit.

edit: there is also a discussion on reddit: https://www.reddit.com/r/Superstonk/comments/14y47wx/

Yeah, in my opinion that redirect is a shitty thing to do as it doesn't give a visitor an option to opt out of loading the reddit page. Redirecting someone to another domain is generally frowned upon.

After we started getting official numbers it became a lot less valuable to have unofficial estimates, no?

I think because some subreddits was deleted and informations with shares from there was gone + user i think it's banned by IP, this is the reason why website doesn't work anymore

Well, that freaking sucks. But it wasn't being updated a lot and lately it proved a bit unreliable...
