A friend and I are going to be these lil guys. Costume's are almost done, they are silly as hell.

The last costume I did years ago was somewhat-sexy bowser and it ruled. I somehow came across a plastic Ninja Turtles shell with straps that probably came from a costume at a thrift store. I spray painted it and made the spikes and everything, I still have that thing because it came out so good

One time I dressed up as The Crow, like OG movie crow. Practiced for days on the makeup, learned how to use liquid latex and some toilet paper to make fake bullet wounds, wrapped myself up in some black duct tape (which was hot as hell and SUCKED to take off lol) and got some black clothes. Lost in a costume contest to a dude in a blue shirt and premade Steve from Minecraft helmet and I’m still mad about it

I would have drunkenly booed him on your behalf, that's BULLSHIT

[-] Commie_Chameleon@hexbear.net 8 points 3 months ago

THANK YOU, would have made the loss feel so much better lol

[-] FALGSConaut@hexbear.net 8 points 3 months ago

That happened to me in a costume contest in school. I spent hours making my costume look great, everything made from scratch, and I lost to some guy wearing a werewolf mask

That might've been the last year I put that much effort into a costume lol

[-] Commie_Chameleon@hexbear.net 6 points 3 months ago

It’s the WORST, I for sure haven’t put that much effort in since. Looking back though it was at least fun putting it together and getting to wear it. Plus my kid’s old enough we’ll have fun making some kick ass costumes together.

I'm dressing up as a worker. I'm gonna show up at my workplace and it'll be a real funny joke and instead of candy I'll walk away with like $100

[-] ratboy@hexbear.net 3 points 3 months ago

Fuck well $100 dollars could buy SO MUCH CANDY. Adults can't even trick or treat without being called weird. So maybe yours is the best costume of all

[-] booty@hexbear.net 3 points 3 months ago

tbf I do buy way too much candy. im getting fat. :(

[-] Cat_Daddy@hexbear.net 10 points 3 months ago

I used to have a Star Trek uniform, but I've done a lot of personal growth since buying it.

[-] ratboy@hexbear.net 10 points 3 months ago

Personal growth mentally or physically? Lol

[-] Cat_Daddy@hexbear.net 8 points 3 months ago

Physically, lol, I got fat

This year: the corgi is WInnie the Pooh and the terrier is Eeyore, partner is Tigger and I'm Rabbit.

Favorite costume ever: the most excited I've ever been about a costume was when my folks bought me an MK2 Scorpion costume as a kid. It was fuckin rad

[-] ratboy@hexbear.net 7 points 3 months ago

That is so adorable, you must post dogpics if you get a chance!

I would totally be stoked on a Mortal Kombat costume. I used to play imaginary Mortal Kombat with my friends during recess. Everyone always wanted to be Sub-Zero and Scorpion and shit, of course.

[-] corgiwithalaptop@hexbear.net 3 points 3 months ago

I'm pretty sure I have a vague memory of playing Recess Kombat as well!

Did you guys spend like five minutes punching up into the air right in front of each other and move like you were under water?

[-] ratboy@hexbear.net 3 points 3 months ago

You know it. And lots of "FINISH HIM!!"'s, and then getting mad about fatalities because one or the other was cheating

My coworkers wanted to go bar crawling, so I'm going as a worker bee. Bee pyjamas + my work boots + a Soviet labour medal. I don't like holidays but it will at least be nice to get angry about greenspace in a way that's more unfiltered than on the job.

[-] ratboy@hexbear.net 5 points 3 months ago

Okay that's really cute I love it haha. Also I thought you said "greenpeace" and was confused. Do you mean greenspace in terms of environmentalism?

[-] happybadger@hexbear.net 5 points 3 months ago

Greenspace as in urban plants.

[-] ratboy@hexbear.net 4 points 3 months ago

ohhh yeah, I think you were someone who was working on a community gardening project or something? You should make seed bombs and toss them about on the bar crawl

How lame do you think it would be if I wore my chef's coat and toque to a party

... for the second year in a row

[-] ratboy@hexbear.net 5 points 3 months ago

Pretend to be Gordon Ramsay and talk shit to everyone in a British accent and it'll be acceptable.

Or if you can find some kinda easily washable fake blood substitute smear that all over and like black out your eyes or something. Boom, new costumes

[-] LeeeroooyJeeenkiiins@hexbear.net 3 points 3 months ago

So itd be pretty lame is what you're saying

Last year I was a tanuki. I got into a fight with a gas station attendant and the leaf on top of my head kept bobbing back and forth while I was yelling at him. That was really funny.

This year I’m going as a guy who’s washing dishes until midnight as a side job while my wife is home sick and pregnant.

[-] ratboy@hexbear.net 6 points 3 months ago

I am picturing the scenario and that sounds fucking hilarious. Did you have the balls too because...That would send it over the top

New costume idea is very provocative. Or is it not a costume desolate

[-] Red_October@hexbear.net 5 points 3 months ago

I had the balls but they weren’t part of the costume

[-] Commie_Chameleon@hexbear.net 4 points 3 months ago

Hope your wife is feeling better soon! Been there and it’s not fun.

[-] Red_October@hexbear.net 4 points 3 months ago

Thanks, I’m super proud of her. She’s been handling it really well and she’s very self aware of how she’s feeling. I hope you’re doing well now!

[-] Tabitha@hexbear.net 6 points 3 months ago

I didn't prepare ahead of time enough to do one of the DPRK-Pop Demon Hunters, and all the best sexy costumes you grab off the shelf (you know awesome shit like sexy bubble bee or sexy strawberry) were probably hit hard by tariffs, so I'm probably going to have to do something horrible like wear an outfit twice.

[-] ratboy@hexbear.net 5 points 3 months ago

I would love to see that costume idea come to life lol. So niche

Doubling up on costumes is environmentally conscious I support. As long as you have like a year or two between wearing it, you're good in my book. I really wanna re-do of my bowser because I love the shell so much

[-] SocialistSpectre@hexbear.net 6 points 3 months ago

Gonna be a spooky ghost and hand candy out to trick or treaters, hoping this year is as busy as last!

My family loves Halloween so we always go all out specter

[-] ratboy@hexbear.net 4 points 3 months ago

Cute! The town I moved to seems not to be very holiday-oriented and it kinda sucks. I LOVE walking around looking at decorations, so it's cool that y'all get really into it.

Story time: I remember one Halloween I was one of the spys from Spy vs Spy. I was in like 4th or 5th grade and I had a big mask that limited my vision and a trench coat. Approached this house where at the top of the driveway there was a witch passing out candy behind a table, with a prop fridge that was open with fake brains and stuff inside, and along the driveway were full sized mannuquins of Freddy/Jason/Michael. My friends and I went up to get candy, and as we walked away one monster jumped out from behind the fridge door and the rest of the "mannequins" ended up being actors that chased us down the driveway. I couldn't see and my trenchcoat was rubbing on my pants so it sounded like footsteps behind me lol. I booked it to the end of the block before realizing they weren't chasing me

[-] SocialistSpectre@hexbear.net 3 points 3 months ago

Hahaha! That rules! I wish I had a bunch of pals to play mannequin with. That's a lovely Halloween memory, I'll be happy if I can make some for the kids who come visit us.

Hopefully your town gets some Halloween cheer soon! 🎃

Handing out full size, vegan candies. I have a red robe/smoking jacket, so I do kind of a "lounge devil" character with a snidely whiplash mustache drawn on with an eyebrow pencil, a cigarette holder, a martini, and little devil horns. Probably gonna put the friendly little dog on a plastic "big heavy chain" and have him greet treaters with me

[-] ratboy@hexbear.net 3 points 3 months ago

I bet all the kids know your house is the one to hit. Costume sounds dope I love that idea

Halloween is not much of a thing here, but I used to take part in this Halloween combat class where you would dress up and the best costume was rewarded. I did a pretty wicked zombie/living dead costume with heavy Ring girl vibes one year, wish I could post a pic without revealing who I am.

Previously I've been in a very spooky vampire costume and a witch costume. Both pretty basic choices, but I always went all in with the makeup and opted out from using masks and such. Aiming for the most "natural" looking horror. Having long black hair has been a help every time.

Bloody hoodie, "unarmed black person"

I went to a party as water. Just a blue suit I found at a thrift store. I wore a cheerleader outfit under it so when I got too warm I took it off and had a backup

I never RLY understood all the decadent western commercialism on display on Americanised "holidays" and never really got into it

I dressed up as adult 1993 Wednesday Adams earlier in the week. Though I kept getting asked if it was Morticia Addams. Which is fine she is a beautiful woman. But I had kind of this idea of Wednesday accidentally getting popular in the pop punk scene a few years later.

I might go as a Viking Witch to a thing I have today. Basically my ren faire costume but even more Kohl.

[-] ratboy@hexbear.net 2 points 3 months ago

Hell yeah viking witch will probably look so cool! Have funnnn

[-] TheEgoBot@lemmygrad.ml 3 points 3 months ago

I have long hair and a beard, so I'm White Jesus™️
