On most launchers I've used I'm pretty sure you can usually resize it, but I wouldn't know specifically for Google's launcher, or their official calendar widget as I use a third party one

It looked pretty much the same as before, but the background didn't change colors based on your system theme (Material You dynamic color theming). And yes, the monthly calendar widget is still there, and I believe also gets dynamic color support.

I use this widget on my home screen (the old one). The old uses screen real estate more effective.
