Many victims of domestic violence are basically inmates at home and that's pretty sad.
Unfortunate placement? That's the kind of thing you write if the juxtaposition suggests something that isn't in one of the parts. But in this case, it's clear that violence is just a problem, and really isn't funny in any way.
