Right-wing media have rushed to blame a variety of factors for Kirk’s death. Conservative media personalities called Democrats “the party of murder” while blaming “the left”, blamed rhetoric describing some on the right as “Nazis and fascists,” claimed the shooter was “radicalized” by college education and “left wing propaganda,” declared “CNN has blood on its hands,” and labeled the shooting “an act of LGBT terrorism” and an “attack on Christianity.”

Maybe it was the pro gun violence guy who spent his entire career dismissing caring about others as weakness and who routinely fomented hatred?

Magats do and say whatever and then pretend to have no accountability in the aftermath, nothing new

Imagine ignoring every other rebellion, slavery, Civil War, mail bombs, mass shooting, school shooting, suicides, police shooting, and then deciding that the history of violence in the US started with the murder of Charlie Kirk.

Yeah but but. The democrats were the ones that fought to keep slavery! Just ignore this confederate flag that i keep for heritage reasons!

Huh? I thought it started with college education?

Fediverse vs Disinformation

1664 readers
136 users here now

Pointing out, debunking, and spreading awareness about state- and company-sponsored astroturfing on Lemmy and elsewhere. This includes social media manipulation, propaganda, and disinformation campaigns, among others.

Propaganda and disinformation are a big problem on the internet, and the Fediverse is no exception.

What's the difference between misinformation and disinformation? The inadvertent spread of false information is misinformation. Disinformation is the intentional spread of falsehoods.

By equipping yourself with knowledge of current disinformation campaigns by state actors, corporations and their cheerleaders, you will be better able to identify, report and (hopefully) remove content matching known disinformation campaigns.
