  • 2,4-D and 2,4,5-T were popular herbicides used in industrial agriculture.
  • They were not suitable for lawn use, as they would kill desired plants along with weeds.
  • Companies selling lawn seeds switched from mixed meadow seeds to pure grass.
  • Grass is highly resistant to 2,4-D and all but immune to 2,4,5-T.
  • Agent Orange was a 50/50 mixture of these two chemicals.
  • The mission to defoliate 20% of the jungle in South Viet Nam: "Operation Ranch Hand"
  • The soil and water of southern Viet Nam and Cambodia remain contaminated to this day.
  • People cannot grow most crops in areas heavily contaminated by Agent Orange...
  • ...but they can grow cow pasture.
  • The people in charge of Operation Ranch Hand must have known what they were doing.
