well yes and no.

technically correct. they do own half the wealth, but it's our responsibility to take it the fuck back from them

it's 100% their responsibility

But that doesn't matter because we all know they aren't going to do it.

That is, ultimately, why popular opposition to the modern economic infrastructure is so vital. It can't just be hoping Jeff Bezos, Elon Musk, and Peter Thiel fix the problem on our behalf.

That's why people need to take things into their own hands. But no, that's so undemocratic, demanding, and barbaric!! Just vote!!

People conflate the term "Responsibility" with "Culpability," usually folding the latter into the former. The homeless guy under a bridge or people living at or below median wages aren't culpable for climate change or the cruelty of poverty, that's the rich. The rich are responsible given their power, but they're willfully cruel and fail that responsibility every single time. Thus as a matter of self-defense and an innate right to resist tyranny, the rest of us have a responsibility to ourselves and future generations to depose them and the system which gives them power. That still doesn't make us culpable for the current harms, though, that falls squarely on the rich alone.

Are these people stupid? I can't fathom their thoughts process

"Blame goes to all" is yet another "all lives matter" bootlicking thought terminating cliche to encourage apathy and doing nothing.

i love when someone offers real world solutions and some piece of shit has to say "OH YEA WELL WAHT ARE YOUUUU DOING TO HELP?"

just admit youre fucking worthless and refuse to even try to find actual answers to wealth inequality.

Liberal individualism is the ultimate form of divide et impera strategy.

1 person needs a lot of stuff to survive. get 8 billion people. thats a lot of stuff.

The only way this lib would actually be correct is if earth had a one world communist government that made sure everyone had what they needed to survive. Instead we have a shithole planet where the majority of the resources are asymmetrically distributed to the vagaries of keeping a dysfunctional capitalist economy running and lining the pockets of the 1% who sit on top of it.

Holy shit you're telling me in theory it's entirely plausible if we let Elon rake up more and more resources and once a desired level has been reached, we proceed to apply Clockwork Orange style brainwash to turn him communist. And now he's putting chips in his and his friends' brains. Convenient.

[–] [email protected] 4 points 1 year ago

Point was that the lib, upon typing that sentence, is implicitly assuming that all 8 billion members of humanity are currently getting the resources needed for survival (fake news).

I've been resisting posting it but there's a .ee neolib I've been arguing with who says that my suggestion "make capital flight illegal, take 99% of what they own if they try and let them fuck off with the last percent" is deeply immoral for leaving the poor uwu billionaires with "nothing".

Meanwhile, I think I'm being too soft on them. Typically when you smuggle something and get caught, you lose all of it and face punishment on top of that.

[–] [email protected] 4 points 1 year ago (1 children)

1% of 1 billion is still 10 million lmao

[–] [email protected] 2 points 1 year ago

I did indeed point that out, and they said "10M is nothing to a billionaire" like yeah, maybe money enough to never work again being "nothing to them" is part of the problem!
