The one on top looks like the tail of a whale.
Looks like the whole thing is a very small whale that the tree grew around it.
Thank you for making me not feel crazy for thinking that exact same thing.

At first glance, it looks like rishi.
I'm in Northern Ontario, so that's a bit out of their range. Maybe global warming has pushed them north.
