@Mika@sopuli.xyz !lemmyshitpost@lemmy.world I'm Brazilian and oftentimes the "All" feed across the entire Lemmy ecosystem feels, in fact, like a smoothie mashup between European-specific political issues and USian-specific political issues, so, when it comes to the phenomenon that the European Fedizens feel on Lemmy, not only we feel the same, but we, Fedizens from the Global South, we feel it twice!

It’s also nice when they come into our country-specific subs to tell us how things are in the US, as we get so little news about the US.

I hear more news from the US than my own country. Granted, my own country's politics are people respectfully discussing policy matters while US politics is like a circus and a pro wrestling league combined, with unimaginably high stakes.

It makes me laugh when Europeans makes these comments. If you want to see more European centric content... post it. Its free to do.

People write as though Americans need to stop interacting with the platform, when the solution is really to increase European engagement, which falls on them to do.

I've blocked quite a few very popular communities because I don't understand their language. I'm guessing they're still popular? Europe as a whole, seems to be quite popular (or it was, I've blocked them).

Some twat of a mod removed a news article, a very popular post which I linked, because "it's internal US news". It was literally from the national broadcasting company of Finland, talking about our national Moomin characters. But no.

Lemmy is filled with Russian pretending to be Americans/Canadians/whatever

I wish I was in Europe. Where I could pretend that news about our downfall was for a time at a distance and would never affect me.

Sorry, I don't go to feddit.org due to their censorship of Israel-critical posts. Due to moral reasons I cannot accept (though I understand) this despite being a legal requirement.

If I just have a quick look at !Europe and its recent top post, first thing I see is this and in the comments a banned user, who says recognizing Palestine as a state would be like giving the Hamas a win. So I don't see much censorship of Israel-critical posts there. E: I'm afraid blocking this only leads to damaging discussions by not even joining them at the first place, because now there just are fewer people who actually want to discuss something instead of just wanting to troll.

There's a beautiful sweet spot between the Americans going to bed and the Germans waking up where Its not US politics but I can still understand whats being said.

I would love to see less America doom and gloom on lemmy. Why should we be the center of everything? More European- and Canada-centric posts, please.

Well sure. But that’s also because everyone else learned how to use English to communicate. So it FEELS like we’re all American. It’s a common thing in online spaces.

Maar als we allemaal terug zouden gaan naar onze eigen taal, voelt het hier een stuk minder Amerikaans.

I’ve literally had lengthy English conversations with other Dutch people online where we only figured out we were both Dutch twenty comments later :D

Increase your population, elect the worst leaders, ditch universal healthcare and other social supports, and your country can contest the US in potential topics for the All feed!
