  • Samsung is launching a new cloud gaming service on its Galaxy smartphones and tablets, with the service possibly reaching "1 billion" Galaxy devices as early as this week.
  • The cloud gaming service aims to remove game download times, enabling immediate streaming of mobile games without the need for downloading them from the Play Store or Galaxy Store.
  • Samsung plans to undercut the typical 30% service fees charged by other platforms to attract developers to its cloud gaming service.
  • The cloud gaming service has been integrated into the Samsung Game Launcher and has received positive feedback during ongoing testing.
  • This move follows Samsung's earlier ventures into cloud gaming, including the 2022 launch of Gaming Hub on its TVs, which integrated various cloud gaming services.

Everyone's first question: "How do I disable this?"

I'm curious where the need is for mobile games specifically. It doesn't take much time to download the games.

Not so much downloading games but offloading the processing to powerful servers in the cloud so you can play games that your phone typically can't handle.

And battery savings.

I've been playing games on my Pixel 7 pro streaming from my PC using moonlight and my phone lasts 8+ hours while gaming.

mobile game publishers

Meh. Call me when they start streaming PC and Console games, and I may be interested. I don't see the point of streaming mobile games, when there aren't any decent AAA games that isn't full of mtx/gacha crap.

I'm also scratching my head on this. Maybe they have plans for high quality mobile games like RE: Village arriving on iOS? I can't see much reason to stream what we currently have.

There's so much potential in mobile gaming. So unfortunate we have crapshoot games though.
