this is a part of why time seems to speed by so fast. your brain runs on autopilot since there's nothing to take in, really, and since there hasn't been much to take in, then it must mean not much time has passed, right? maybe an hour or so? wait what do you mean by "six months"?

and it works the opposite way, too. the first time I went on a trip abroad (as an adult) it was for 10 days, but felt like a month.
