Were Auschwitz and Daschau tourist destinations or are we on our way to being worse than the Nazis?

[-] [email protected] 7 points 3 days ago

the nazis didn't have the benefit of learning from a previous regime that their actions are abhorrent; we do.

Quite the opposite in fact, they were directly inspired by previous settler-colonialism and successful genocide.

Writing in “Mein Kampf” in the 1920s, Hitler praised the way the “Aryan” America conquered “its own continent” by clearing the “soil” of “natives” to make room for more “racially pure” settlers and lay the foundation for its economic self-sufficiency and growing global power. Indeed, the concept of Lebensraum was coined and popularized by Friedrich Razel, who said his theory of colonization and racial replacement drew inspiration from the American historian Frederick Jackson Turner’s “frontier thesis” and its identification of “colonization of the Great West” as central to American history and identity.

the difference is that the nazis actions popuarly known as abhorrant, whereas the american's actions were seen as neutral at best.

The people who really deserve to be kidnapped

That can't be a real sign...

Is that seriously what we're calling it? The official name is Alligator Alcatraz? America is a parody of a real nation.

Can’t verify that exact photo but the sign is real. Terrible ad-ridden site for Local 10 news but in the “Friday noon report” video you can see video with the sign in it.

Imagine the sludge in their shriveled little hearts to feel anything but profound sadness and/or rage looking at that sign. I used to think there was good in everyone. I was wrong.

Totally not a cult

The new "Boy in the Striped Pyjamas" is even more depressing.

Won't need them, hurricanes will fill that role.

New mobile public toilets just dropped

[-] [email protected] 4 points 4 days ago

What dropped out of them is this lot.

[-] [email protected] 2 points 4 days ago

I mean anything can be a toilet if you're brave enough

[-] [email protected] 1 points 3 days ago

I believe onahole is the term their host preferred.

I tell myself that there is good in everyone but the world has been testing me these past few years

Remember that people are often stupid, not evil. You can do pretty awful things if you're dumb enough. Someone's razor, forgot who's

[-] [email protected] 24 points 3 days ago

I know a lot of stupid people who choose to be good as well. Stupid people who know to trust scientists and who want to share and all that good stuff. Then there are the violent, monkey-brained goons whose only method of communicating is unfiltered violence. The latter are pathetic in all senses and no amount of being stupid will be an adequate enough excuse for their actions.

"Never attribute to malice that which is adequately explained by stupidity." - Hanlon's razor

One of my favorites

For the people in the image though, the only solace I find is knowing that they are motivated primarily by fear.

You're stronger than me, friend. I've lost faith in people long ago.

[-] [email protected] 8 points 4 days ago

May you never lose the kindness of thinking that, Comrade.

I don't believe that but wish I still did.
