    In some places it's not uncommon to plant a tree the day a baby is born. I hope I can do that someday

    A nice thought but mine has probably been slash & burned to make grazing land that will be useless and dead in 10 years.

    There are definitely many trees that sprouted the day you were born (yes, even if you were born in winter, the southern hemisphere exists), many of which are likely to outlive you, some even by multiple centuries, millenia if you're lucky.

    There are more trees on earth than stars in the milky way.
