I assume they do sometimes have feelings but it's pretty hard to imagine how people who'd agree to work for Palantir would feel about literally anything other than being highly paid which they presumably enjoy.

Really? I can think of all sorts of personal information that a Palantir employee would not want out there, especially in the hands of an entity with similar ethics and morals of their employer.
For example, what rate of pay would make you not care that someone knows the names of all your children, where they go to school, and the names of all of their teachers? Or where your siblings live? Or the physical location of your mobile phone whenever its turned on? Or your browser history?
This is the MO of every parasite and rapist.... They do bad shit to you, and you can NOt hurt them
Until people figure put thus dynamic, nothing will change.

If you made it this far, showerthoughts is accepting new mods. This community is generally tame so its not a lot of work, but having a few more mods would help reports get addressed a little sooner.
Whats it like to be a mod? Reports just show up as messages in your Lemmy inbox, and if a different mod has already addressed the report, the message goes away and you never worry about it.
