They're still useful just in a different way than maybe people want to use them. If you use them after set releases to snipe the cards you want/need/care about while they flood the area you can get back to opening whatever packs have the cards you're chasing faster. There's still a chance for older cards to show up there which I actually see more than I expected, just not the rare ones lol. I do agree it could use a rework of some kind though.
I wonder how much of this they've already thought of and are planning to address. They announced a long way ahead of time that they'd be changing us to shinedust for trades eventually, maybe there's a wider refresh coming when that drops?
