Footage of the crash circulating in the aftermath clearly suggests an issue with the plane’s flaps. Ahmed Busnaina, a university distinguished professor, says the engine might have been the problem.

Engine failure?

I don't see flaps on that video.

The 787 is quite overpowered, but engines can't overcome lack of lift.

Not sure why this guy is saying anything about potential engine failure. It rotated, so clearly made V2. But then failed to climb as it lost ground effect lift.
