Just because an alt-text is present for an image doesn't mean it's helpful.
I've seen alt texts where the text was simply: "funny screenshot". No further explaination what can be seen on the screenshot and why it is funny.

I don't really understand what the point of the alt-text is, except for maybe describing the image to people who have poor vision; which is not what I typically see being in the alt-text space.
Describing the images for blind people is literally the main objective of the Alt Text, the rest is secondary. In mastodon in particular, blind users are much more welcomed than in other networks precisely because there is usually a culture around it. One of my friends I met at Mastodon is blind, and I always, ALWAYS put Alt Text in the images I post so that he can also be part of the conversation.
Hmm, this seems like an elaborate kink shame.
Could you... Ehm... Elaborate on that...?
Kinkycats. Org. all the way down on the bottom?
Just trying to make them feel guilty?
What is alt text? Is it basically a subtitle for the image that describes the image? For people that can't see it?
Yes
Exactly that, yes
This is for strictly mildly interesting material. If it's too interesting, it doesn't belong. If it's not interesting, it doesn't belong.
This is obviously an objective criteria, so the mods are always right. Or maybe mildly right? Ahh.. what do we know?
Just post some stuff and don't spam.
